a2, in collaboration with Professor Patrick Lagadec of the Ecole Polytechnique de Paris, has developed training curricula in the fields of prevention and crisis management for policy makers and emergency planning professionals.

At the request of the governor of Walloon Brabant province (manager of the provincial crisis center), a2 organized a conference in Wavre on 31 March, 2010 on the theme “21st Century Crises: new challenges, new solutions”, which was attended by military officials, emergency workers, police officers and members of the public. The conference was followed by a roundtable inviting feedback from the participants.

Project solicited by Marie-José Laloy, Governor of Walloon Brabant province.

Professor Patrick Lagadec (left) has written a dozen books, which have been translated into several languages, and developed a feedback system that elaborates on major real-world cases  (Katrina, SARS, H1N1 flu, EDF, etc .) to refine the emergency planning and response procedures of critical operational and strategic systems.

The experiences of the head of the U.S. Coast Guard, Admiral Thad Allen (on the right of middle photo), are an integral part of Professor Lagadec’s curriculum. Allen was tapped by the White House to re-establish navigation in the wake of Hurricane Katrina then, years later he was recalled from retirement at the request of President Barack Obama to assist in the containment of the BP oil spill.
